No~Shock~Zone RV Electrical Safety J Michael Sokol eBook Reviews
Amazing knowledge shared and taught in this extremely well written book! Even saved my experienced-but-sorry-arse installing a 30amp outlet in a barn expert Union Master Electrician had me wire it WRONG.. twice!!
I guess it is a good introduction to RV electrical issues and safety, but for whatever reason I still don't have a good understanding of how it all works together. I guess I need a basic, basic and even more basic instruction manual, book or. . . I'm probably more of a hands-on person that would get more benefit from that kind of help. I would like the book to have a lot more step by step photos, illustrations maybe even in color. That may help, at least in my case.
This book explains the problems an RVer may face when connecting to power at campgrounds. NEVER trust a campground receptacle without testing first. This book explains in plain and simple language what to watch for and how to protect your RV and your family.
The information in this book could save your life! Don't assume all campground power pedestals are wired correctly.... Someone with electrical knowledge could jerry-rig the connections and electrocute you. Or worse yet, over power the panel and cause thousands of dollars of damage to your RV.
The tests this book shows you are easy to perform. If you don't feel comfortable doing them, please hire a technician. The piece of mind is worth it.
Like Mike mentions, if you feel any tingle when you touch metal on your RV; stop, disconnect the power and find out why.
Ok this is a good book for someone who knows little to nothing about electricity. It is a stretch to call this book about RV at all. There is little about RV electrical systems such as 12 volt battery or wiring and 120 volt wiring, nothing on a electrical panel. I should have looked more closely at the table of contents. This book will help if you do not know how to use a basic multiple meter, test outlets or hot metal such as skin of an RV. There is no index.
I should not have purchased this book, but I see that as my fault and looking at all the favorable reviews. All those favorable reviews are kind of scary to me because IMO those folks do not know enough about electricity to be safe in their homes. Just be aware electrical circuits can kill circuit breakers protect against fire. GFCI is meant to prevent electrical shock to people. Hence why you bathroom circuit has GFCI protection.
An easy to read explanation of a complex issue. A continuing source of reference. For a novice like me the does not talk over my head and I have gained valuable information. I will keep this information readily at hand.
Think you know about electricity? Do you feel safe because you have a RIVA certified RV? Do you expect that simply avoiding adapters and only using the power cord that came with the rig will keep you safe from electrocution? Well guess again... it's a dangerous world out there. Campgrounds may have faulty wiring. Nature can kill you or melt your electrical and electronic equipment. There's only one way to protect yourself... get smart. Learn how electricity works. understand how to test that your RV isn't in danger from unexpected electrical issues. This book can save your life.
It is written in easy to understand language with lots of diagrams to make this information easy to learn. Each chapter reinforces the most important issues and practices with the RVer in mind. If I had to choose between having this book or a spare tire with me on a trip, I'de take the book. It can save my life. The tire will just save me time.
